Success is a word that is much used in our society. We probably hear it at least once each day, especially in commercials. It could be said that many of us are spending so much time concerned about success that we do not set things in motion to achieve our own success. One thing is apparent to me, and that is that each individual must determine what success means in their own lives. Those who go through life trying to achieve so-called success by someone's standards or by the advertising industry's standards will always fall short of feeling successful.
Most modern dictionaries define success as a degree or measure of achievement or as a favorable or desired outcome.
You must decide what you want that favorable or desirable outcome to be in every area of your life. This is especially true with your business. To be 'successful' in your business marketing efforts you must set, realistic, obtainable goals. You must measure your success by how close you come to achieving the goals you set for yourself based on your abilities and skills.
In successfully marketing your online business you must be willing to invest the time it takes to research and learn all you can about the marketplace. You must not believe the hype, the overblown promises of immediate success. The truth is, most overnight successes were months or years in the making.
Fortunately, many of the online marketing professionals (or gurus) are willing to share their experiences and allow novices to benefit from their experience.

What could be better than an opportunity to make money using the power of affiliate marketing, while avoiding the hassle of
having to build a site or pay to host your domain? Wouldn'tit also be wonderful to have someone else do the work of
sending traffic to your site?
Basically, you just sit back and wait for those hugecommission checks to roll in.
Sound too good to be true? Good, because you guessed it. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
I'm referring to affiliate 'links' opportunity sites thaare becoming increasingly popular. 'All' you have to do is
promote the site.
In these schemes, you are given a free site into which you insert your affiliate link. That link becomes the 'featured <>
link' on your site. Featured link? Picture a site like Yahoo!, then try to pick out one link as being featured.
Can't do it, can you?
As the owner of a fr*ee site, you also earn a paltry commission when you sell one of these sites to someone else.
Earning a commission on the sale of a product or service from which no one benefits sounds like MLM to me.
Now here's the good part. For a 'small fee' the company promises to do 'all the work' of building masses of traffic
to your affiliate site.
Oh wait. Before you can earn commissions from those links, you'll have to JOIN all those programs first. Until then,
the links belong to the person who gave you the fr*ee site, and any sales made from those links will be credited to him,
not you.
Considering those sites typically consist of hundreds, and sometimes thousands, of links to various affiliate programs,
it's starting to look like you're going to have to do some work, doesn't it?
Do you really want to pay the 'small fee' of fifty or sixty dollars a month for the privilege of generating commissions
for someone else? Instead, you could buy a web site template for twenty bucks that looks a hundred times nicer
than the affiliate links site design. Then you pay ten bucks a month to host your own site and join all the same
affiliate programs.
Actually, you probably wouldn't want to join all the same programs. Many of these affiliate links lead to sites and
products that you wouldn't want to buy yourself. Do you want to risk your business reputation by offering them to your
site's visitors?
Don't forget that the same offer is made to thousands of people every day, each of them looking for the same magic
bullet - the quick and easy business opportunity. That means that there are copies of 'your' site all over the web, and
more coming online everyday. So much for being unique.
Not having a niche has another disadvantage. How many surfers will find your flea market affiliate link site when
they are searching for 'handheld computer' or 'treadmills'? Approximately none. Niche sites get ranked by the search
engines while flea markets don't get found.
All in all, these 'opportunities' are a waste of time and money, and benefit only the scheme's originator.
Real affiliate marketing opportunities abound, and many have excellent potential for earning serious income. Thousands of
affiliate marketers enjoy very large incomes by promoting merchant programs and products.
While they avoid the hassles of carrying inventory, order processing and customer service - super affiliates do
not avoid effort.
They know that success comes from investing time, effort and the forging of one's own path.
In other words, do the work, reap the rewards.

One Way to Start an Internet Business

One day this past summer, while vacationing at a cottage in the Okanagan Valley, my favorite watch went missing. By the time I remembered that I'd left it by the swimming pool, it was gone.
This wasn't just any watch. It was the first watch in years that caught my eye and kept it. Moreover, it also kept time! Most of you probably don't consider 'keeping time' a special feature, but I have a box full of watches that stopped working almost immediately after being put on my hyper-magnetic wrist.
This very special watch was a piece of signed and numbered wearable art by Eduardo Melies of Watchcraft� Inc. studio in New York City.
As soon as I got home from my vacation, I phoned Watchcraft� to have the watch replaced. It was good to speak with people who fully comprehended and sympathized with my loss. Unfortunately, they couldn't do anything about it. As the manufacturer, they had to point me to their distributors, of which there
was only one in Canada.
I phoned the owner of the shop recommended by Watchcraft. She told me that although they carried the line, she didn't have the specific piece I was looking for. She estimated that shipping from New York to Toronto and then out west would take between a few weeks to a month. Although that was disappointing news, hearing the high price of Watchcraft in Canada was decidedly worse. <>After speaking with her, I puzzled over the issue, knowing there had to be a better way to handle the problem. I then phoned Watchcraft back to beg and plead. Strangely enough, that worked, but not the way you might be thinking.
Alex, the Watchcraft representative, and I had traded pleasantries during our first conversation. One fact I'd shared with him was that I make my living marketing various products on the 'Net. Knowing that, Alex suggested that while he couldn't sell me the product as a member of the public, he could if I wanted to become
a distributor.
I didn't have to think long about that offer. High quality and demand are my first two criteria when choosing products and services to offer my online customers. I personally loved the product. It was attractive, unique and of ultra high quality. Regarding demand, I knew that many of Melies customers are repeat buyers. In a newspaper article about Eduardo's work, I read about a woman who owns six of them. I also knew that an older Watchcraft timepiece had recently traded for more than $1700 on eBay, indicating high interest in the product.
The icing on the cake was being offered a drop-ship arrangement. All I had to do was forward the completed orders, and Watchcraft would take care of shipping.
This fit very well with my 'Work Less - Automate More!' motto.
The site was easy to set up, as Watchcraft sent me a CD with all the watch pictures on disc, and a list of their wholesale prices. All I had to do was research the retail price of Watchcraft online, (and make mine lower), advertise the site and start selling watches.
The only hard part is trying not to buy too many for myself!

One Way to Start an Internet Business

One day this past summer, while vacationing at a cottage in the Okanagan Valley, my favorite watch went missing. By the time I remembered that I'd left it by the swimming pool, it was gone.
This wasn't just any watch. It was the first watch in years that caught my eye and kept it. Moreover, it also kept time! Most of you probably don't consider 'keeping time' a special feature, but I have a box full of watches that stopped working almost immediately after being put on my hyper-magnetic wrist.
This very special watch was a piece of signed and numbered wearable art by Eduardo Melies of Watchcraft� Inc. studio in New York City.
As soon as I got home from my vacation, I phoned Watchcraft� to have the watch replaced. It was good to speak with people who fully comprehended and sympathized with my loss. Unfortunately, they couldn't do anything about it. As the manufacturer, they had to point me to their distributors, of which there
was only one in Canada.
I phoned the owner of the shop recommended by Watchcraft. She told me that although they carried the line, she didn't have the specific piece I was looking for. She estimated that shipping from New York to Toronto and then out west would take between a few weeks to a month. Although that was disappointing news, hearing the high price of Watchcraft in Canada was decidedly worse. <>After speaking with her, I puzzled over the issue, knowing there had to be a better way to handle the problem. I then phoned Watchcraft back to beg and plead. Strangely enough, that worked, but not the way you might be thinking.
Alex, the Watchcraft representative, and I had traded pleasantries during our first conversation. One fact I'd shared with him was that I make my living marketing various products on the 'Net. Knowing that, Alex suggested that while he couldn't sell me the product as a member of the public, he could if I wanted to become
a distributor.
I didn't have to think long about that offer. High quality and demand are my first two criteria when choosing products and services to offer my online customers. I personally loved the product. It was attractive, unique and of ultra high quality. Regarding demand, I knew that many of Melies customers are repeat buyers. In a newspaper article about Eduardo's work, I read about a woman who owns six of them. I also knew that an older Watchcraft timepiece had recently traded for more than $1700 on eBay, indicating high interest in the product.
The icing on the cake was being offered a drop-ship arrangement. All I had to do was forward the completed orders, and Watchcraft would take care of shipping.
This fit very well with my 'Work Less - Automate More!' motto.
The site was easy to set up, as Watchcraft sent me a CD with all the watch pictures on disc, and a list of their wholesale prices. All I had to do was research the retail price of Watchcraft online, (and make mine lower), advertise the site and start selling watches.
The only hard part is trying not to buy too many for myself!

One Way to Start an Internet Business
